Red Cardinals and White Butterflies

On my daily walk, I’m often treated to the beautiful sight of at least one red cardinal and a couple of white butterflies. I love the vibrant scarlet color of the bird and its clear, melodious song. Cardinals always remind me of loved ones—like my dad and mother-in-law—who have gone to heaven in years past.

As for the butterflies, their graceful flitting from flower to leaf reassures me. Amidst the chaos of the world, they remind me that peace and gentleness still exist, waiting to be noticed.

Over the weekend, I attended a Blue Jays game—and what an exhilarating experience it was! The energy at the stadium was electric. Passion for the team filled the air, and with nearly 40,000 fans decked out in a sea of blue shirts and hats, the excitement was contagious. Best of all? The Jays won!

Signs and symbols are all around us. But what feelings do they stir within us?

Whether it’s cardinals, butterflies, or Blue Jays fan gear, these symbols remind us that each of us carries something meaningful into the world. We each represent something—we bring our brand to life every day.

This weekend, we also celebrated our son’s 24th birthday. He brings his brand too. As I kept reaching for my phone to capture birthday memories, he kept scowling at me to put it away! That’s because he’s an SI on the DISC Personality scale—steady, stable, supportive, and quiet. He’s a fabulous friend, always lending an ear to those who need it. But he prefers staying behind the scenes, far from the spotlight (or the camera!).

It’s always a fun challenge for an ID personality like me to communicate with an SI like him! But that’s the beauty of humanity, isn’t it?

We see cardinals, butterflies, Blue Jays, and our children—and each comes with their own special imprint, their own brand. The most important thing is self-awareness.

Do you know your brand?
If not, let’s connect for a DISCovery call and uncover it together.
And if you do—then it’s time to show it off to the world.

Let’s soar.
